Butte Humane Society Update

Katrina Woodcox has been the Executive Director of Butte Humane Society since February 2015. Before joining BHS, Katrina spent 13 years as the Executive Director for the Downtown Chico Business Association (DCBA) in addition to working as a consultant for a variety of non-profit organizations and businesses throughout the north state.

Katrina has extensive management and public relations skills, fundraising expertise and a deep passion to advocate on behalf of homeless animals in need of love and a forever home.

As a devoted champion of worthy causes and with a desire to help make this world a better place, Katrina has focused on building community partnerships, restructuring the organization and developing a dynamic, enthusiastic staff in order to transform our community’s approach to animal homelessness.  Katrina is helping to define BHS as the “animal welfare hub of the north state,” and is excited to take a lead role in “The Journey Home” capital campaign in order to make this amazing, and desperately needed, facility a reality.

Steve Thompson is the Campaign Director of Journey Home, a fundraising committee working with the Butte Humane Society with the goal of building a new animal shelter. Steve grew up here in Butte County, where he has worked on numerous political and advocacy campaigns, including the recent bond measure for Butte College and for Marsy’s Law, a national crime victims advocacy organization. Steve is a US Army Veteran, and lives with his wife and kids in Biggs.
