Returning Exchange Student Report

Noelle will be presenting on her year abroad on her Rotary Exchange to Austria.

Noelle just got back from an amazing exchange year in Klagenfurt, Austria.
After spending a fifth year of high school learning German and experiencing the life
of an Austrian student, she’s looking forward to jumping into her first year of college
life at Cal Maritime this fall. She’ll be going into the Marine Transportation major,
and can’t wait to get involved with their leadership programs and begin learning
about piloting ships.
Hobbies bring the most joy to Noelle’s life. Any moment not spent in class,
you’ll find her outside and on the move. Her time in Austria has instilled a passion
for skiing and hiking, and she can’t wait to catch up with Taekwondo after a year
away. Along with exercise, Noelle would name music the second half of her soul. She
has been playing the violin privately and in various orchestras since the 6th grade.
Her favorite composers to play are Vivaldi or Bach, although she has an equal love
for lively Irish jigs.
Though she hasn’t touched down in Chico yet, Noelle predicts she’ll be
spending her summer in or on the banks of Chico Creek, at one of the many markets
busking with friends on her violin, or hiding from the heat at the public library while
enjoying the wide selection of books in English.

We will also breifly hear from our new Outgoing Exchange student - Ingelise. Ingelise  graduated from Inspire School of Arts and Sciences a year early this past June. She is seventeen years old and has lived in Chico for almost all of her life. She is very excited to go on exchange to Taiwan through Rotary, and she is leaving in mid-August. She hopes to continue to cultivate her passions of the arts and geography throughout her exchange, and expresses her thanks to Rotary for this wonderful opportunity.
