Reporting in the Northstate

Mike is a proud Chico State graduate, and lived in Chico during his college years, as well as about 3 years after graduation, while working at KRCR-TV. He has been with KRCR-TV for more than 40 years, with the exception of a couple of short stints with Dignity Health (Mercy Medical Center) in Redding. Now a news anchor and reporter, he spent more than 20 years as Sports Director (covering Chico State football (!) among other sports) before sports was deemed irrelevant (and weather became emphasized.) He grew up in Redding with a sincere love for all the North State, graduating from Shasta High School. He’s also an ordained Roman Catholic Permanent Deacon, serving at St. Joseph Parish Redding. He has three children, and five Grandchildren, (counting one on the way, due in September.) He loves the outdoors, and has always said he wished the City of Chico was located where the City of Redding is.

Chico Rock Walls
Chico Rock Walls

Debra Meline:

Fourth generation Chicoan who was raised on a local
ranch and farm.
Debbie is concerned that our local rock walls/fences
will disappear completely due to vandalism and theft,
and result in the loss of precious historic treasures.
She started a local group, Respect The Walls in an
effort to gain protection by achieving listing on
Chico’s Historic Registry.
Respect The Walls has adopted Old Humboldt Wagon
Road in an attempt to raise public awareness and
reclaim the area which is home to irreplaceable
wagon ruts and rock walls.
